Myself … my self discovery path

For-blog-16

Who am I?

How many of us have made answering this question our life mission? I decided to take the path of self discovery at a young age. Books, therapy, travelling, art, cooking, meditation, and writing are some of the things I have used to connect with my changing self over the years.

Through self-discovery we can stop self-judgement and let ourselves be just how we are. Self-discovery allows us to go deeper and view our thoughts and bodies with more love and acceptance. It allows us to understand why we act the way that we do, what makes us happy, what makes us sad. This understanding can fill whatever we do with  intention.

It is after all a long journey so we better get comfortable being here, as we are. Yet, many times, the more we dig in the more we can get lost in our complex humanity, full of judgement and fear. What if instead of getting lost in our judgements and fears we try to embrace them and see them just for what they are? thoughts, perceptions, emotions. It is not that easy, I am still trying every day.

The only constant in this life is change. Life will happen whether we want it to or not. We will grow and we will age. We will laugh and we will cry. We will like and dislike. But connecting with ourselves and realizing we are much more than facts and preferences can make the ride smoother and more enjoyable.

There are different strokes for different folks so we will all find different ways to get in contact with ourselves. Call it religion, spirituality, love, writing, reading, meditation whatever makes YOU go a little deeper, try it, see what you find in there and love it.

To your lovely self, just as it is: Mucho Amor! lu.

  1. The more I travel the more I learn about myself. It’s as though the more I learn, the more I realise how it’s so easy for us to all become how our family and friends want us to be, and not our true selves.

I think travel is the one greatest investment one can make in themselves – regardless of what they discover, long term it will be for the better.

  2. I am glad you found your outlet Peter. To me travelling is a a great way to explore within to.
